The opportunities and challenges facing the property sector will be debated by some of the top local names at Buckinghamshire’s first property festival next month.

Sir Anthony Seldon, vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham and author or editor of more than 40 books including several biographies of recent prime ministers, will top the bill of leading names when he addresses a champagne reception – the finale to the Buckinghamshire Property Festival (BucksPropFest 19).

More details of the reception will be announced in the next few days but a list of around 20 speakers and panellists throughout the day has been confirmed. It will include Buckinghamshire County Council leader, Cllr Martin Tett; Silverstone Park commercial director, Roz Bird; Buckinghamshire Thames Valley LEP (BTVLEP) chief executive, Richard Harrington; Pinewood Studios corporate affairs director, Andrew Smith and Jansons Property managing director, Andy Jansons.

The event, run by Thames Tap publisher, UK Property Forums in partnership with BTVLEP and Buckinghamshire Business First, will be at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury on June 6 and is based on successful models in Oxfordshire and Berkshire with networking opportunities throughout the day.

The day will begin with a choice of either a walking tour of new developments and public realm in Aylesbury town centre or a bus trip to some of the major schemes around the county.

The tours will be followed by lunch before the first talk and debate on the Oxford – Cambridge arc. Then follows talks and discussion on the county’s cluster of clusters, the live/work concept in Bucks and the effect of massive infrastructure schemes including HS2, Western Rail Link to Heathrow (WRLtH), Crossrail and Heathrow expansion, East West Rail and the Marlow to Maidenhead twin track project.

Matthew Battle, managing director of UK Property Forums, said: “This will be a first for the county of Buckinghamshire – a dedicated conference which celebrates the importance and value of property across the area.

“Using the successful walks + talks format developed by UK Property Forums, we have confirmations from around 20 speakers and panellists who want to be involved in the event and some of the leading organisations in the region are supporting us with their sponsorship.

“These are exciting times for the county as it explores its position in the context of the south east property market.”

The event is sponsored by law firm Blaser Mills; property consultants Chandler Garvey; development communications specialist firm DevComms; developer Jansons Property; development giant  Kier and planning consultancy Turley.

An early bird price offer runs until May 10.
